BILLY TALENT TOUR PROMOTES FOOD SECURITY ACROSS CANADA

A PORTION OF TICKET SALES DONATED TO LOCAL FOOD BANKS

FANS ASKED TO BRING A NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEM TO THE SHOWS

Iconic rockers Billy Talent supported local food banks across Canada with their Canadian dates in an effort to address food insecurity in Canada.

In addition to donating a portion of ticket sales to local food banks in each tour market, the group also arranged to have local food banks on-site at each venue to collect non-perishable food donations from fans of the band.  Billy Talent’s philanthropic efforts for this worthy cause were spearheaded by Aaron Solowoniuk, the band’s founding drummer who has stepped back from his seat at the drum kit due to his ongoing battle with MS to focus on the band’s charity work.

According to Aaron, “We want to use our tour to help people in every city we play in. Food Banks across Canada are critical in helping to address hunger but they have been impacted significantly during the last two years of the pandemic. We are asking our fans who are attending our shows to bring a non-perishable food item so we can help people in the community. Additionally, we'll be donating a portion of every ticket to the local food bank in each tour city. Together with our fans, we will be able to help so many people."

The band raised money and collected food for food banks on each stop on their Canadian tour.  Billy Talent are one of Canada’s most successful bands.  They have sold nearly one million albums in Canada alone and nearly 3 million albums internationally.  They have won 7 Juno Awards and have been nominated 23 times, including three nods for Afraid of Heights (Group of the Year, Rock Album of the Year, and Ian D’Sa for Producer of the Year). Their most recent album Crisis of Faith has had three singles hit the #1 spot at Canadian rock radio and have combined to spend a total of 21 weeks atop the Canadian Rock radio chart.  Crisis of Faith debuted at #8 on the Billboard Canadian Albums Chart, joining just four other rock artists who have reached the Top 10 within the past 12 months (Iron Maiden, The Tragically Hip, Kings of Leon and Foo Fighters).  In 2018 the group was honoured with the Legends of Live Special Achievement Award, presented by Canadian Music Week.
